Police say one person is dead following a building fire in La Pêche, Que.

The La Pêche fire department was alerted by a passing motorist around 5 a.m. Friday that a building at 655 chemin Parent north of Sainte-Cécile-de-Masham was engulfed in flames.

MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais police went to the scene with an investigator, a fire scene technician and a dog handler from the Sûreté du Québec.

A body was found in the rubble at around 2 p.m., police said. The victim's identity has not been confirmed.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
