CBC Quebec expands to serve Laurentians, Vaudreuil-Soulanges areas

CBC Quebec is pleased to announce the hiring of two journalists who will be dedicated to covering off-island Montreal communities as well as the Laurentians and Lanaudière.

This is part of CBC's broader commitment to local news, which includes the hiring up to 30 permanent reporters to work in 23 under served communities across Canada. This expansion of local and regional news will increase CBC's footprint from 48 to 66 local stations and bureaus across the country.

Chloë Ranaldi will cover stories in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area and Andie Bennett will cover the Laurentians and Lanaudière. They will focus on broadening CBC's news coverage in these regions, and tell stories for and about the diverse English-speaking Quebecers who live and work there.

About Chloë Ranaldi

Chloë has previously worked at CBC as a video-journalist, current affairs radio producer and assignment editor. Chloë is also completing her master's degree at Concordia University with a focus on how Canadian women present themselves through podcasts and traditional radio.

Chloë has a deep understanding of the vibrant off-island communities including Vaudreuil, Hudson and Saint-Lazare from her reporting over the past decade. She will begin in early June and have office space in Hudson.

About Andie Bennett

Andie Bennett will cover the Laurentians and Lanaudière regions. Andie, who lives in Morin Heights, is a familiar face and voice to many, being a former sports columnist for Daybreak and CBC Television. In addition to covering Montreal's major sports teams, Andie went out of her way to highlight people making a difference in their community through sport.

She left CBC to join TSN's Team 690. Andie also did community development work in the MRC des Pays-d'en-Haut in the Laurentians.

Andie has an office space in the Piedmont area.
