Two yellow weather warnings are in effect for Waterloo region and Guelph as Environment Canada warns of bitter cold and blowing snow that could impact travel and outdoor activities Friday.

The City of Guelph announced Thursday that Royal City Mission will open a daytime drop-in space in downtown Guelph starting on Tuesday.

Winter lovers will get a chance to celebrate all things snow and ice at Winterloo in uptown Waterloo, plus there's a seed giveaway, music, a craft whiskey festival and a family event to celebrate nature in Guelph.

Region of Waterloo Public Health has issued notices to more than 13,000 students about out-of-date vaccination records. If students do not update their records by a certain date, they could face suspension from school.
