Waterloo regional police are investigating a head-on collision that happened in Woolwich Wednesday afternoon that sent five people to hospital, including two people with serious injuries.

A head-on collision in Woolwich Wednesday afternoon sent five people to hospital, including two to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

Police and emergency crews responded to the area of Listowel Road near Steffler Road at approximately 4:20 p.m.

Police said a 25-year-old man, who was the driver of a Dodge van, and one passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two additional passengers were transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries. 

Police said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck, a 51-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Listowel Road was closed for several hours for the police investigation and has since reopened.

The investigation remains ongoing, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-cam footage is asked to call police.
