1 man dead, another injured in overnight shooting in London's Old East Village
Fatal shooting took place near the same area as London's first homicide earlier this month

London police are searching for a suspect after a fatal overnight shooting in the city's Old East Village neighbourhood left one man dead and injured another.
Officers responded to a 911 call about sounds of multiple gunshots in the 700-block of Dundas Street just before 4 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, police found two adult men who were both transported to the hospital.
One of the men died of his injuries in hospital and the other man remains in hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition, police said in a news release on Sunday afternoon.
Acting Det.-Insp. Adam Steele said police are still working to confirm the victims' ages.
"The 700-block of Dundas Street is a commercial area of the downtown area. It also contains many residences that are intermixed amongst those storefronts and commercial area," he said.

This is London's second homicide of 2026, and it happened mere steps away from the city's first murder near Dundas and Hewitt streets on Jan. 12.
The incident claimed the life of 45-year-old Brandon Christopher Jamieson Nichols and resulted in a 38-year-old London man to be charged with second-degree murder.
Police are asking the public for any dashcam footage or information that can help with their investigation and will remain on scene for a while as they continue their investigation, said Steele, adding that police are taking the matter very seriously.
"Understandably, situations involving gunfire in our city are extremely concerning to our community members," he said.
"London Police Service is dedicated to ensure public safety, and we will continue to dedicate the necessary resources in order to bring this to successful and safe conclusion."
Anyone with information urged to call London police or Crime Stoppers.
