Jeremy Tunraluk resigns at Nunavut Tunngavik president
Tunraluk had been on unpaid leave since last month when he was charged with assault

Jeremy Tunraluk has resigned as president of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), the organization said in a news release on Wednesday.
Tunraluk was elected to a four-year term as president of NTI in 2024.
Last month, he went on unpaid leave from the position after he was charged with assault.
The Crown stayed the assault charge last week. A stay of proceedings means the Crown is choosing not to proceed with prosecution. The Crown can reactivate charges within one year.
NTI's news release says that the organization's membership met earlier Wednesday and voted to hold a byelection for a new president in December 2026, when elections will also be held for two NTI vice president positions.
In the meantime, vice president Paul Irngaut will continue to serve as president.
