Bundle up and head to uptown Waterloo to celebrate all things snow and ice at Winterloo

It’s going to be a bitterly cold weekend, but there are several events that aim to get you out of your home.
There’s a concert Friday night at Waterloo’s Emmanuel United Church featuring Julian Taylor and Logan Staats.
Tiny Home Takeout at 56 Duke St. W. in downtown Kitchener will mark its fifth anniversary with an open house and tour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. People will get to go behind the scenes to see how the meals are made, hear stories and learn how the organization has grown over the years.
The Sunday Grind music event in downtown Kitchener is back, this time with DJ Havz x Mili spinning tunes at the Yoni Mudra Art Gallery from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Kitchener Rangers host the Owen Sound Attack Friday night at The Aud.
The Guelph Storm host the Erie Otters at the Sleeman Centre Friday night.
The K-W Titans will host their superhero game on Sunday at 3 p.m. at The Aud when the Windsor Express come to town.
Winterloo
Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Uptown Waterloo
It’s time to celebrate all things winter and there’s plenty of snow to get everyone in the mood.
There will be live ice carving, ice skating with music, local food trucks, a maple taffy station, giant games, dog sled rides, an art display and a dog fashion show.
Seed giveaway and knowledge exchange
Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Cafe Clementina, 17 Benton St., Kitchener
The K-W Wildflower Seed Library will be at the cafe to talk seeds, plants and think warmer thoughts of spring as well as what people can start now when it comes to seeds and getting into the garden.
Songs for a Winter’s Night
Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Wesley United Church, 6 Cambridge St., Cambridge
This performance will feature folk-fusion band Maggie’s Wake and the songs of Gordon Lightfoot and organizers say it’s an evening to celebrate all things Canadian.
Celebrate nature family event and free swim
Sunday 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Victoria Road Recreation Centre, Guelph
This free family event is being hosted by Wildlands League to connect people with two nature organizations in the city: Urban Park Guelph and the university’s arboretum.
There will be free temporary tattoos, treats, information about natural areas in the city plus a free public swim from 3:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Ontario Craft Whiskey Festival
Saturday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Elora Centre for the Arts
If mittens and a tuque aren’t enough, how about a tipple to warm up your insides. This festival will allow people to try more than 20 different hand-crafted whiskeys from nine distilleries in southwestern Ontario. Other spirits will also be available to sample.
