A man is dead and another is in custody after reports of a stabbing in Kitchener Friday.

Police were called to the area of Garden Path Place and Countrystone Crescent around 4:30 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived they found a man dead inside a residence.

During the investigation they found a suspect near Ardelt Avenue. A 26-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators believe the two men involved are known to one another.

Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. There will be an increased police presence in the area as officers canvass for witnesses and gather additional information.
