A 65-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car Friday morning in Kitchener.

Police say the man, who lives outside the region, was in Kitchener when he was hit by a small Chevrolet car at approximately 10:45 a.m. in the area of Fischer-Hallman Road and Haldiman Street.

The man was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old female driver of the car, who is from Kitchener, was not injured.

Police say the man had been in a separate collision and while he was outside his vehicle, he was hit by the passing car.

The intersection was closed for several hours for the investigation. Police say charges "are anticipated" in the case.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage of what happened is asked to contact Waterloo regional police or leave a tip with Crime Stoppers.
