Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has issued a power warning for Saturday morning, and is asking residents on the island to conserve electricity where possible.

The power warning comes into effect at 6 a.m. NT, the company said in a news release Friday night.

The warning is issued when the electricity grid nears maximum capacity. Residents are asked to be prepared for potential rotating power outages.

The company said conservation means turning off unnecessary lights, limiting hot water usage or turning the heat down a few degrees.

It’s the second power warning issued by N.L. Hydro this week. On Thursday, a power watch was put in place for Bay d'Espoir.
