NCC unveils latest designs for the rooftop park at Dow's Lake
Plans include tennis courts, gardens, viewpoints

The National Capital Commission (NCC) has shared new designs for the rooftop park that will crown the parking garage at The Ottawa Hospital's new Civic campus at Dow's Lake.
The designs, unveiled on Thursday, show five acres of green space atop the hospital's four-storey garage, which will contain more than 2,800 parking spaces.
The Ottawa Hospital's garage will be open to the public this year, while landscaping will be completed in phases, a spokesperson said in an emailed statement Friday.
A folded pathway connects the rooftop park to a courtyard at the intersection of Prince of Wales Drive and Preston Street.
Nicole Howard, a senior architect with the NCC, said the rooftop will offer programming and public amenities, including "additional viewpoints, gardens, tennis courts as well as active and passive play spaces."

While work on the garage is underway, construction on the hospital has not yet begun.
The Ottawa Hospital is "working with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Infrastructure Ontario to finalize the design, cost and construction schedule," according to Friday's statement.
Here are some of the other new rooftop renderings shared by NCC. The last shows part of the pathway that will lead up to the roof.
