One person has died following a two-vehicle collision in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., on Wednesday morning, police say.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. ET , officers with Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision in the area of Portage Road near Stanley Avenue.

One of the drivers was located without vital signs, police said in an afternoon news release.

“Life-saving measures were commenced by Niagara Emergency Medical Services,” the release reads. 

Police said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Early information suggesting that the deceased driver suffered a medical episode while operating a motor vehicle."

The second driver had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, police said.
