Meet Lisa & Aishah, our new reporters
Stationed in Prince Albert and serving Northern Saskatchewan

As a part of CBC's ongoing goal of better serving more Saskatchewanians, we are excited to be opening a news bureau in Prince Albert. This will be one of the over twenty new bureaus opening in markets across the country. Stationed in Prince Albert and serving Northern Saskatchewan, we are excited to welcome Lisa Risom & Aishah Ashraf to the CBC Saskatchewan team. We chatted with them both about everything from tea and their magical powers, to food and naming a pet goat plus, of course, what they love most about our province.
About Lisa
Lisa Risom considers herself a video artist. She has two decades of experience reporting in Saskatchewan. The University of Regina j-school grad worked as a video journalist and producer with Shaw Communications, and subsequently as a multimedia journalist with CTV. She recently worked with Saskatchewan First Nations, including James Smith Cree Nation 370. Lisa had the pleasure of working as story editor on the documentary Al Primo and His Eyewitness News Revolution. It has received eleven awards and film festival recognitions. It was also nominated in the category of best historical documentary at the 68th annual New York Emmy Awards in 2025.
About Aishah
Aishah Ashraf is a graduate of the Toronto Metropolitan University School of Journalism whose passion for broadcasting is shaped by her drive to remedy the lack of Muslim representation in media. She has spent the past year as a segment producer and news writer for CTV Your Morning, the network's national morning show, and two years as a host and news anchor with Muslim Network TV. Her adventurous spirit has taken her from a French summer camp in rural Quebec to a semester abroad in London, U.K., and now, she's eager to immerse herself in the Gateway City and share its stories. When she's not covering news, Aishah can be found watching soccer (or football, as she likes to call it), talking all things pop culture, or listening to movie scores.
