St. Thomas police arrest man, 65, for alleged assault of teen motorist
The unidentified man faces charges of assault, careless driving, uttering threats
A 65-year-old St. Thomas man wanted for the alleged assault of a teen motorist in an apparent case of road rage earlier this week has been arrested, St. Thomas police said.
The man was located by officers and taken into custody on Wednesday, the same day police announced that he was the subject of an arrest warrant on charges of assault, assault causing bodily harm, careless driving, and uttering thraets.
It's alleged the accused had followed a vehicle to a parking lot in the city's south side on Tuesday afternoon, exited his vehicle, and assaulted the other motorist, a 16-year-old from St. Thomas.
Police said a surveillance camera captured the incident, and also recorded him leaving the area at a high rate of speed and nearly hitting two people.
The man's identity has not been provided. Police said he was transported to police headquarters on Wednesday and held for a court appearance Thursday morning.
