Windsor police are asking drivers to take winter driving precautions after 176 collisions in just six days in Windsor and Amherstburg.

Those six days coincided with a wintry blast that brought snowy and icy conditions to the roads.

The police service offered tips on how to drive safety in the winter. Officers are encouraging drivers to slow down and leave extra space between yourself and the next vehicle.

They say to avoid sudden braking and sharp turns and make sure your vehicle is properly cleared of snow and your tires are properly inflated and "winter ready."
